Implementing SAFe with SAFe Practice Consultant (SPC) certification

Implementing SAFe with SAFe Practice Consultant (SPC) certification

Become a SAFe Practice Consultant and lead SAFe implementations across teams, ARTs, and portfolios.

Implementing SAFe is Scaled Agile’s four-day SAFe Practice Consultant (SPC) course, leading to SPC Certification. It’s built for experienced change agents, consultants, and leaders who need to guide SAFe implementations — from first ART launch through to sustained execution.

  • 4-day intensive, live online (AEST/AEDT)
  • Delivered by two SAFe Fellows (every cohort)
  • Apply the 13-step SAFe implementation roadmap and learn how to design a fit-for-context SAFe implementation plan
  • Identify value streams, launch and support ARTs, and enable PI Planning and execution
  • Understand how to enable the Continuous Delivery Pipeline, DevOps culture, and Lean Portfolio Management
  • Official SPC Certification exam included, plus SAFe Studio membership and course materials

Result: You’ll leave with the know-how (and tools/examples) to design your SAFe implementation plan — not just pass an exam.

A note on expectations: This course builds capability — implementation success still depends on your organisational context, leadership alignment, and execution over time.

What Our Clients Say

Cobalt Ho Head of Lean, Enterprise Transformation and Portfolio Management at Cathay Pacific Airways

Enjoyable 4-day learning and special credit to my two great trainers Em Campbell-Pretty and Adrienne Wilson from Pretty Agile - I got an exam pass! Thank you for the great class and your fruitful experience to help us understand the theories behind. You and Em are doing super great - so luck to have both of you being our coaches! Both of them are super experienced and put their lifelong learning into a book named "The ART of Avoiding a Train Wreck" (could find in Amazon) with a foreword by Dean Leffingwell who created SAFe! Lots of practical learnings have been found there. I don't like reading book most of the time (except Harry Potter) but I do find it quite enjoyable if you are also in the journey. If you are also a Lean fans like me, probably you will enjoy their explanation how the lean thinking being connected and executed. Enjoy~

Imran Shakeel Senior Scrum Master, Nuix

Certified SAFe 5.0 Program Consultant (SPC)! OK, this was exciting. Challenging but exciting and fun nonetheless. Big thanks to Em Campbell-Pretty and Adrienne Wilson at Pretty Agile for making this so much easy. Their mastery in navigating through the huge piles of content - and not just course content but so much extra and additional real-world stories and anecdotes - impressed me!

Mitch Drew Principal Business Analyst, Department of Justice and Attorney-General QLD

After practicing SAFe for 4 years I decided to complete my SAFe Practice Consultant certification. I researched multiple companies that provided this training but decided to go with Pretty Agile. I am so glad I did! Em and Adrienne are extremely experienced with implementing SAFe at various organisations and were able to link practical experiences to the course content. This made for such a better learning experience and made the exam much easier. If you are thinking about doing this course or any other SAFe certification, do yourself a favour and connect with Pretty Agile.

Tanesh Naidoo Scrum Master, Chevron

Privileged and humbled to have been coached by such consummate professionals. Em Campbell-Pretty and Adrienne Wilson are wiser beyond their years, particularly with being able to expertly navigate us through the virtual training. Their best-selling books are a treasure trove of useful wisdom gathered over their many years of experience in this domain. If you're thinking about doing the course, then don't hesitate and book it in. It's everything you need and more!

Susmitha Vemprala Integration Planning & Agile Process Coach, Waste Management (Texas)

Em and Adrienne - When i signed up for this mid-night class, I wasn't sure about how much I would actually learn. But you both made the learning very easy by sharing your experiences and helping relate the "book" knowledge to real-life. Thank you!! I thoroughly enjoyed the classes and would absolutely recommend it to all my friends.

Jason Cull Agile Business Coach, Chevron

I managed to pass one of the hardest exams I have ever done to become a SAFe 5 Program Consultant today. Thank you to Em Campbell-Pretty, Adrienne Wilson and everyone else attended Pretty Agile's first online SPC training course. I cannot recommend Pretty Agile highly enough as a training provider for SAFe. Both instructors went above and beyond to ensure we had the best opportunities for learning. #Agile #SAFe #SPC #Chevron #prettyagile

Why choose SAFe SPC training from Pretty Agile?

SPC training matters because what you do after the course matters. This isn’t about collecting a certification — it’s about being ready to lead SAFe in the real world.

  • Taught by people who implement SAFe for a living
Every cohort is delivered by two SAFe Fellows, with deep, current experience leading SAFe implementations across large and complex organisations.

  • Implementation-first, not theory-heavy
The course is taught through real scenarios: launching ARTs, enabling PI Planning, working with leaders, and exploring common failure modes and how they’re typically addressed in practice.

  • Proven at scale
We’ve trained 14,000+ people in SAFe since 2014, continually refining how this course is taught based on what participants struggle with once they’re back at work.

  • We prioritise running our public classes
Across public training, we maintain a 90%+ run rate and make every effort to run the courses we schedule.

  • SAFe is what we do
Training and implementation are our core business. If your goal is to apply what you learn — not just pass the exam — you’ll be learning from people who do this work every day.

Bottom line: This course is designed to help you leave confident in how to implement SAFe — not just certified in what it is.

Who should attend

This course is designed for people who intend to apply SAFe in practice, not just learn the framework.

You’ll get the most value if you:

  • Expect to be involved in leading or supporting a SAFe implementation
  • Will help with value streams, ART design/launch, PI Planning, or coaching execution
  • Need to work with leaders on rollout sequencing, readiness, governance, and adoption

Common fit roles include Agile Coaches, RTEs, experienced Scrum Masters stepping into transformation work, delivery/program/portfolio leaders, and change agents supporting SAFe rollouts.

A note on expectations: SPC certification demonstrates knowledge of the SAFe implementation roadmap. It doesn’t replace hands-on implementation experience, which is built over time and varies by context.

This keeps the door open for “cert buyers”, but stops the “consulting replacement” expectation.

What you’ll learn

By the end of the course, you’ll be able to plan, enable, and coach the implementation approach across teams, ARTs, and portfolios — with a clear understanding of what to do, when to do it, and where additional experience or support is often needed.

You’ll learn how to:

  • Apply the 13-step SAFe Implementation Roadmap across the full lifecycle of a SAFe rollout
  • Build urgency and alignment with leaders, and support the formation of a Lean-Agile Center of Excellence (LACE)
  • Identify value streams, design ARTs, and support their launch and ongoing execution
  • Prepare for, run, and support PI Planning and Inspect & Adapt events
  • Coach teams, ARTs, and leaders through common implementation challenges and failure modes
  • Enable Lean Portfolio Management, including strategy, funding, governance, and flow
  • Understand how the Continuous Delivery Pipeline, DevOps culture, and architectural runway support delivery at scale
  • Support continuous improvement and evolution of SAFe over time, not just the initial rollout

What this means in practice:
You’ll leave with the capability to design and coach a fit-for-context SAFe implementation, and the confidence to guide leaders and teams through the work — not just explain the framework.

All are welcome to attend the course, regardless of experience.

The Implementing SAFe course covers the content from Leading SAFe but presents it in a different context. For more information, see the Scaled Agile FAQ here.

In SAFe 6.0, the role formerly referred to as the SAFe Program Consultant (SPC) was updated to SAFe Practice Consultant (SPC). This revision highlights a more comprehensive emphasis on business agility that goes beyond program management. The SPC’s duties now include supporting organizations in their Agile transformations, mentoring teams, and promoting a culture of continuous improvement throughout different areas of the business, not just within program management.
