The SAFe Advanced Scrum Master (SASM) training is being retired on February 27, 2025, as part of a course sunset by Scaled Agile. The SASM course provided a traditional, two-day instructor-led learning experience, focusing on advanced Scrum Master skills such as facilitation, team dynamics, and Agile Release Train (ART) management. After completing the training, participants were eligible for the SASM certification.
In contrast, the new SAFe Advanced Scrum Master Certification Path offers a more flexible, modular approach to learning. This certification path focuses on developing the skills that Scrum Masters need to advance their careers. It combines self-paced SAFe Skills learning, a SAFe Micro-credential, and a live Learning Lab where participants can apply what they've learned in real-world scenarios. This path allows for a more customisable learning experience, with opportunities to focus on flow optimisation, conflict resolution, and fostering high-performing teams.
