I have attended many courses over my career but have never been to one which inspired those in the room to make a major transformational difference. This week I was fortunate enough to be part of the first APAC Cohort to attend AI-Native Foundations delivered by our friends Em Campbell-Pretty Adrienne Wilson. The course focuses not on the tools but more importantly how AI as a business imperative integrates to help business transform and grow in an exponentially changing world. Not only did I attend, I'm proud to say I passed the certification exam. I am now applying what I learned to deliver business value for the University of Auckland

Keen to keep learning in this space. This course wasn’t just theory — it was packed with practical tools, frameworks, and💡 moments. I’m already sharing what I’ve learned with my family and colleagues (including my 80+ never-retiring father! 😁 ). Whilst I do use some AI tools to optimise outputs, the real excitement is in reimagining what’s possible tomorrow — and I can’t wait to double down and keep exploring that with our team. The shift from AI as a tool to AI as a personal IF and thought partner is simple but powerful. I’m curious to see how next week’s way of working is enhanced, and genuinely excited about how strategic planning and execution at the University could be transformed. 🤖 AI is moving fast—and I’m glad to be moving with it. I’ve just completed the AI-Native Foundations course and certification with AI-Native Training by Scaled Agile, Inc. earning the AI-Native badge as part of the second APAC cohort. The course gave me a solid foundation in how to embed AI into everyday work and decision-making, using the EDGE framework (Exponential, Disruptive, Generative, Emergent) to make sense of the shifts happening around us. Have you felt that your organisation is getting behind you with AI? Or are you thrown some tools and left to it? I’ve just finished the Scaled Agile AI Foundations course and really enjoyed it. I already knew a fair bit about prompting, but what stood out for me was the focus on how AI can actually fit into real business workflows. It helped me see how the tools I’ve been experimenting with could be used more systematically — and it built a lot of confidence that I’m on the right track. That it's not about leaving it to IT but about using it in our day to day and to provide improved services. What I appreciated most was the balance between curiosity and responsibility — using AI well, not just using it. Having the University of Auckland organising this training for a large group gave it real weight and made me feel encouraged to keep exploring, but to do it thoughtfully, securely and to solve real problems, for us and our students. Doing it with all UoA staff enabled us to be much more candid and constructive, something I definitely recommend to other organisations. I came away with some practical ideas I can share with my team, and a sense that AI can be a positive enabler, not a scary future — which feels like the right place to be. Admittedly, the timing wasn’t perfect for AI Native—balancing the final days of PI Planning Prep meant a degree of context switching- But boy, am I glad I did. And, I passed the exam to boot (phew!) What truly elevated the experience was the collective energy and insight from the amazing people from across the University who attended. The diversity of thought, the curiosity, and the willingness to explore and experiment in real time to see how being AI Native and how to apply AI responsibly in our work was game changing. A huge thank you to Em Campbell-Pretty, Adrienne Wilson, and the team at Pretty Agile for delivering such a fun, engaging, practical and thought-provoking course. And to everyone who participated and shared so openly—the ideas and enthusiasm in the room made all the difference.
